About this journal

I am Mark, a freelance translator who spends a few months a year moving slowly around southeastern Europe.

This site started as a way to keep notes for myself: which bus leaves from which corner of which square, where the good bakeries are, which trails are actually marked. Over time it turned into a small journal that a handful of friends read, and now anyone who stumbles onto it.

There are no affiliate links here and no sponsored posts. If I recommend a guesthouse, it is because I slept there and would sleep there again.
